Today is the end of our last day in South Africa. We decided to make the best of our last day and go hiking in the Cape Fold Belt. This mountain range was formed via convergence two tectonic plates. Because of the convergence, metamorphic rocks and other minerals were formed from the high pressure and heat. Because of the formation of gems and rocks, I was able to find an amethyst during the day!

This was me moments after finding the amethyst!

Our campsite was a small tourist stop with many souvenirs. The camp was so high in altitude, that nosebleeds were frequent and quite annoying. Before night fell, we took a small hike up a mountain and witnessed the rock layers. It was much darker on the hike down, and we saw a little bit of snow at the peak of one of the mountains. "Goodnight South Africa, may our paths hopefully cross again. I dream of an Africa, which is in peace with itself" — Nelson Mandela
