Today we left the Drakensburg mountain to go to a major city of South Africa called Durban. Durban is the 3rd most populated city in South Africa. It is also known as "The Bay". Even though it is the city with best quality of living in South Africa, the city can be very dangerous in some areas. Durban is actually one of the top 20 most dangerous cities in the world, so we made sure to be careful while we were there.

(Golden Mile Beach and Moses Mabhida Stadium)

First thing we did after coming from the Drakensberg Mountains was book a local hotel. The hotel stated that it would take until the afternoon to get our room ready, so we decided to tour the city for the remaining few hours. We first went to the Golden Mile Beach, but we didn't bring any kind of beach gear, we couldn't really do anything except walk around. We then headed toward the Moses Mabhida Stadium, which happened to be by the beach we were at. We had never planned to set up a tour there, so we couldn't do anything either. We had to walk a while through the city, but we were able to go to a very nice seafood place for lunch. After that, we all decided to go to the Umgeni River Bird Park. The park was far away from where we were so we took a taxi.

(Entrance of the park and a toucan)

We bought tickets just before we made it to the entrance of the park. The park only featured birds, as the name would suggest. Most of those birds looked like tropical birds. There were parrots, toucans, cockatoos, peacocks, cranes, and more. Some of the birds seemed to be allowed to roam the entire park instead of being in an enclosure. We spent just over an hour there, and because it took us quite a while to drive to the park, by the time we got to the hotel the room was already ready for us to stay. We headed straight for our room and collapsed on the big beds because we were tired. "South Africa is the most beautiful place on earth. Admittedly, I am biased but when you combine the natural beauty... and the fact that the region is a haven for Africa's most splendid wildlife... Then I think that we have been blessed with a truly wonderful land." - Nelson Mandela
